Developing Zoning Maps in the City of Fresno
For this project, a client requested a series of maps depicting the parcels that permitted churches and other religious assemblies and the parcels that allowed theaters and other forms of entertainment. The goal was to highlight the discrepancy between what areas permitted theaters in an attempt to preserve a local theater that was slated to be demolished in favor of a church.
In order to accomplish this, I developed a series of maps, as shown below, that show the difference in parcels that allow theaters versus the parcels that allow churches. As indicated by the maps, the discrepancy is large, with much more opportunity for churches to build instead of theaters.
